The God of Gaps

I’m the God of Gaps, it said.
I’m the God of Holes.
I’m the refuge from the truth,
I am the God of Souls.
I’m the wide-eyed innocent;
The child that cannot grow,
The guide upon a lonely path,
For those that fear to know.
From the start was I, it said
And will be to the end.
I lead the heart but leave the mind,
For others to defend.
Far on the distant sea, it said
Where pack-ice melt and calve,
Beyond the warmth of reason,
On wasting bergs I starve.
I’m the rule of shackled men,
Who fear being free.
I’m the awe of nature’s lore,
Beyond all that we see.
I’m the beach of ignorance,
Where knowledge gently laps.
I’m the God of Boundaries,
I am the God of Gaps.
